A first round selection (13th overall) of the New Orleans Saints in the 2005 NFL draft, Brown resides in Lawton, Oklahoma, and is the son of Charles Brown. Jammal played in 13 games his rookie season and quickly solidifed the Saints line. After a standout high school football career at McArthur High School (Lawton, Okla.), playing both sides of the ball, he headed to the University of Oklahoma, where he continued to gain accolades as one of the best offensive tackles in the nation. He has a rare combination of speed and power and graded the highest out of the Sooners down linemen in 20 of 26 contests the last two seasons. Jammal was a Sociology major at the University of Oklahoma.
College Career:
- Jammal redshirted his freshman season in 2000 with the Sooners due to a knee injury
- Saw his first significant action of the season in 2001 when he played several series at right tackle against Nebraska
- He became a regular reserve on the offensive line after the Nebraska game and often shared time with fellow freshman, Jerod Fields
- Jammal was named First team All-Big 12 by Associated Press and Dallas Morning News, second team All-Big 12 by the coaches in 2002
- He enjoyed an outstanding sophomore season and positioned himself for postseason honors in future campaigns
- Brown had 80 knockdown blocks and just one penalty
- He helped open holes for Oklahoma’s first 1,000-yard rusher (Quentin Griffin) since Bob Stoops became the head coach
- Had a big hand in increasing OU’s yards per carry average by a full yard over 2001
- Part of a line that surrendered just 18 sacks (less than two per game)
- Was a First-team All-America by the AFCA and CNNSI.com and a consensus All-Big 12 selection his junior season
- Second team All-America by Walter Camp Foundation and The Sporting News
- He had the highest season grade among Oklahoma’s offensive linemen
- Finished with a team-high 127 knockdown blocks and just one sack allowed
- Ran down UCLA linebacker Spencer Havner to make the tackle at the end of a 72-yard interception return
- He continued his dominance during his senior campain in 2004
- He did not allow a sack, pressure or tackle in three games (Texas, Houston, Oklahoma State) and no sacks in any contest
- Jammal collected 130 knockdowns for the season

- Regarded as one of the top 10 high school defensive tackles in the nation
- Earned first-team all-state honors as a defensive tackle from the Tulsa World and high school coaches association
- Rated as the No. 5 defensive lineman in the Midlands by PrepStar and No. 8 player in the Midlands by SuperPrep
- Named as the second-best player in the state by First Down Publications
- Second-team all-state selection by the Daily Oklahoman as an offensive lineman
- Played both sides of the ball and ended his final high school season with 70 unassisted tackles, nine sacks and 15 quarterback hurries.
