Even more accurate than usual, Drew Brees conducted a clinic that JaMarcus Russell would be wise to study. Brees connected on 87 percent of his passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns, and the New Orleans Saints routed the Oakland Raiders 34-3 Sunday. 

Helmet in hand, Deuce McAllister jogged triumphantly into the tunnel of the Louisiana Superdome past celebrating Saints fans howling his name. Then came another thrill. McAllister's childhood idol, former San Francisco running back Roger Craig, called to congratulate him on his first validating performance since his second knee reconstruction. 

Saints fans partied near debris piles and leaning fences -- the lingering evidence of Hurricane Gustav's path through New Orleans last week. The Louisiana Superdome was in good shape, however, as was the team that calls the enduring and iconic stadium home.
